Service Description
Islam in the Early Americas is an Online History Class happening every Sunday from 5 PM to 6:15 PM EST. Islam in the Americas did not begin in the 20th century. Long before, African Muslims arrived through the Atlantic slave trade — carrying literacy, scholarship, and faith across the ocean.Despite enslavement, many preserved Islamic knowledge, wrote in Arabic, and sustained religious life in the Americas. Join us for Islam in the Early Americas, an online history class tracing the lives and intellectual traditions of African Muslims from Brazil to the United States.
